Job Role : Senior Turbopump Engineer (Electric Pumps) Location :- Orange County CA - Onsite Salary Range: DOE Job Description :: Below is more info for what I am looking for: This person will be working on our electric pump (e-pump) for Kerolox engines. I mainly care about the LOX part of that as it's a cryogenic propellant, methane is also a transferrable skill. Rocket Lab and Astra have used this same technology in the past so there are people there who know how the tech works. These are ideal hires. We need someone who can own the e-pumps cradle to grave i.e. analysis --> design --> manufacturing --> testing --> vehicle integration That inherently requires they have the mechanical engineering and CAD skills required for this but also the propulsion/turbomachinery background for it as well Since the pumps are electric i.e. driven by batteries, they must have a strong understanding of power systems, electrical engineering and batteries. Finally, as with most pump systems, they must be familiar common pump components like shafts, bearings, housings, rotor-blades, etc. What we’re building is adjacent to turbo pumps for rocketry in general. There are plenty of great engineers from SpaceX, Blue, etc who have some experience here, however, I’m not sure how many will know how to see this project through end to end.
